Troubleshooting the upgrade of ActiveExit

If you've installed ActiveExit 18.10 on a computer that used to have an earlier version of ActiveExit previously installed, you may encounter the following issue: when running the ActiveExit configuration utility, all entry boxes are grayed out and pressing the Apply button results in a message asking you to use the Group Policy manager instead.

If this computer is a part of a domain that is indeed managed via Group Policy then you should follow the advice and continue managing the ActiveExit settings on the server using a GPO.

If, however, this is a stand-alone computer not connected to a domain network, then you could resolve this issue as follows:

  • Close ActiveExit configuration utility and run Registry Editor (regedit.exe);
  • Navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Policies/WinAbility;
  • Delete the key ActiveExit under this key;
  • Close Registry Editor and run ActiveExit configuration utility again. Now you should be able to edit the settings and apply them to the computer.

If the above does not resolve the issue, please contact us for further assistance.
